Come on board the 'Spirit of Kinsale' for a spectacular tour of Kinsale harbour. The Kinsale Harbour Cruise will give you a very different view of Kinsale and its beautiful surrounding natural harbour. Kinsale is located in the south of Ireland approximately 18 miles South of Cork City.
Our unique trip is an opportunity to view the Kinsale town from the water. A perfect combination of culture, information, relaxation and stunning scenery. Kinsale has a wealth of historic sites and our tour gives you a birds eye view and an opportunity to appreciate them in context. Jerome's commentary gives a brief history and anecdotal legends and an insight into how the town has developed over the centuries.
Jerome, the owner of the 'Spirit of Kinsale' was a fisherman for 28 years, he was born and grew up on the Old Head of Kinsale, He had made the decision to retire from fishing and was looking for a business that would work well with his experience and his interests. As he is very keen on history and archeology, he took a full time heritage and tourism course with Coláiste Stiofán Naofa. An opportunity arose for him to take over 'The Spirit of Kinsale', this is an ideal opportunity to combine his maritime experience and his passion for heritage, culture and wildlife.
He took over 'The Spirit of Kinsale' in May 2005, it is a seasonal business and during the winter of 2005, he refurbished the boat completely to make it more suitable for groups and increase the overall experience of the cruise trip.
Kinsale Harbour Cruises has scheduled daily trips which depart on the hour. The daily time table can bee seen at the Kinsale Tourist Office, the embarkation point on the Kinsale Harbour Cruises website.
Booking is not necessary for the scheduled trips and embarkment takes place 10 minutes before the time of departure, however for groups it is advisable (especially in high season) to reserve spaces.
In the event of adverse weather there may be changes to the schedule. These will be clearly shown on the signs at the departure point, the tourist office and shown on the website.
The Spirit of Kinsale is available for private hire outside the scheduled times. Please contact us to arrange a private cruise.
